I am always interested to hear from people keen on working with me! If you are interested in a project as a student, or a potential research post, please get in contact.
I am particularly keen to support tauira Māori - I was given lots of great opportunities, and want to help others tread the same paths with me (or any others that they choose!). If you are looking into science as a career and want to chat about options, or are interested in the possibilities below, please let me know!
Students
I will be advertising a number of 400 level projects each year, in both the Genetics and Biochemistry programmes. These can be tailored to individual interests, and I am happy to work together to organise a compelling research question, or let you know what I am thinking of.
The University of Otago has a number of PhD scholarships, which can be suitable for both international and domestic students. These require the applicant to be eligible for admission to the PhD programme at the University of Otago and to be eligible for a scholarship (see http://www.otago.ac.nz/study/scholarships/index.html). A GPA of 7.5 or greater and demonstration of proficiency in English are essential.
I have 2 open positions for PhDs at the moment:
I can also host summer students, and if you are a current undergraduate who would like a taste of full time research, let me know! There are a number of ways to fund these, even for non-Otago students.
Staff
I am very happy to work together on postdoc applications, and have a competitive record in getting these. If you are interested in a project - wet-lab, computationally based, or both - please get in touch and I will see what I can do!
